Layout Groups
These plugins implement groups for Layout. They allow for the selection of multiple items depending on the group they belong to.
An item may belong to more than one group.
The groups an item belong to are stored as item comments. These are preserved during a “Load from Scene”.
Group names are case sensitive and may contain all characters except for ;.
Layout Groups includes the following functionality:
Add to Group
This allows you to add the currently selected item(s) to either an existing or a new group.
Remove from Group
This allows you to remove a group from the currently selected item(s).
Clear Groups
Shows a list of all assigned groups for the current item type. Selecting one of them wiill remove the group from all items of the current type.
Select by Group
This shows a pop-up of all available groups, selecting one of them will select all items that are a part of this group and the same item type as the current selection mode.
I.e. it is only possible to select lights if the current selection mode is Light as well.
Select Similar
This shows a pop-up of all groups that are assigned to the currently selected items. Selecting one of them will select all items that are a part of this group and the same item type as the current selection mode.
I.e. it is only possible to select lights if the current selection mode is Light as well.
Add to Selection
Things works like Select by Group but adds the items with the group to the current selection as opposed to replacing it.
Deselect by Group
Shows a list of all groups assigned to the currently selected items. Selecting a group name will remove items of that group from the current selection.
Open Groups / Groups...
This opens a panel that contains buttons for all group related fuunctionality. We recommend assigning it to a shortcut such as shift-G for quick access.
The buttons also have their own shortcuts. This allows for using choords to reach group related functionality. I.e. press shift-G followed by s to select by group name, shift-G followed by + to add a group to the current selection and so on.
Adding the db&w menu branch config will add a group of buttons to the side menu that cover the groups functionality.
